Class Levels
Beginner 1
Dancers who have no dance experience and are a little cautious/concerned about learning to dance. This level covers East Coast Swing (swing portion) and Merengue (Latin portion) which are known to be more straightforward and easier to learn. The level will cover the basic timing of the dances, pattern of dance movement and how to dance with a partner. The focus is getting up and dancing with ease.Prerequisite: None
Beginner 2
Dancers who have some dance experience, confident with their coordination and/or ability to learn physical movement quickly. This level covers Lindy Hop (swing portion) and Salsa (Latin portion) which are known to be slightly more complicated and harder to learn. The level will cover the basic timing of the dances, pattern of dance movement and how to dance with a partner. The focus is getting up and dancing with a little more challenge.Prerequisite: None
Basics
These classes are beginner classes of secondary dance styles. The primary dance styles are taught in our beginner 1 and 2 classes. These styles are great to know for complimenting the primary styles and keep you learning new things. We recommend dancers have some dance experience but if you are confident with your coordination and/or ability to learn physical movement quickly, you can try these classes. Classes will cover the basic timing of the dances, pattern of dance movement and numerous figures. The focus is getting up and dancing these fun dances quickly.Prerequisite: None but some dance experience encouraged
Beyond Basics
Dancers who are comfortable with the timing of the basic steps for Lindy Hop and Salsa. You are ready to add more moves/figures, get comfortable stringing moves together and refine the timing/patterns of your dancing. The focus is on action and building your dance repetoire.Prerequisite: Beginner 2 or instructor permission
Intermediate 1
Dancers who are comfortable with the steps, timing and pattern of Lindy Hop and Salsa. You have a decent repertoire of moves and are ready to refine, focus and expand how you dance to really improve the feel of your dancing. The focus is on developing dance skills.Prerequisite: Beyond Basics or instructor permission
Intermediate 2
Dancers who are very confident in your Lindy Hop and/or Salsa dance skills. Your dancing is really starting to feel good and you are ready to start to add more expression and individuality to your dancing. The focus is on developing dance styling.Prerequisite: Intermediate 1 or instructor permission
Intermediate 3
Dancers who have good dance skills and are getting comfortable with styling for Lindy Hop and Salsa. You are ready to apply these aspects of your dancing to more complicated patterns/figures, breaks, and syncopations. The focus is on opening the door to unending opportunities for your dancing.Prerequisite: Intermediate 2 or instructor permission
